Actor Rajinikanth and filmmaker Mahendran share an excellent rapport. In his earlier days, Mahendran did movies that brought the actor out of Rajinikanth and help him establish a place for himself in the industry. The two had worked together in Mullum Malarum and Johnny before. Kai Kodukkum Kai was their last.
Remember Mahendran presided over Rajini’s meet with fans last December. Mahendran plays a crucial role in Petta. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, Petta is being shot in Varanasi.
Trisha, Simran, Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are also in the cast. Sasikumar was recently roped in for the movie. Music is by Anirudh.
