Nadigar Sangam forms committee to hear sexual charges

Following a slew of sexual harassment cases involving actors, Nadigar Sangam has finally opened up and formed a panel typical to Visaka Committee to look into the allegations.

At the executive committee meeting of Nadigar Sangam in Chennai Monday, it was decided to form a panel that would comprise office -bearers mostly women.

It will analyse and enquire allegations of sexual allegations. It would also have a psychiatrist. All issues would be dealt in an impartial manner without gender boas, said president of the association Nasser.

We have also recommended forming a high-level committee to look into issues regarding this happening in shooting spots. The panel would be headed by Tamil Film Producers Council with Nadigar Sangam and directors union part of it, he added.

#MeToo allegations of actresses against actors and directors are on the rise in Tamil cinema. Lyricist Vairamuthu, filmmaker Susi Ganesan, actors Arkun, John Vijay feature in their allegations.

The likes of playback singer Chinmaye, actresses Amala Paul and Sruthi Hariharan came out with allegations.
