A host of fresh faces comes together to recreate the magic of campus life in Naanga. Director Selvah has managed to weave magic onscreen narrating the tale of friends.
The film is set in 180s. It is director Selvah's 25th film. He has rendered a youthful story Balabharathy has scored music. What is interesting is that the stories may give a deja vu ride for audience but the quick unfolding of events makes it a watch.
Devi (Vishnupriya) wakes up from coma after almost 25 years. Now her college mates in the past decide to meet her. They have a purpose.
They go meet Devi with one Babu (Uday) who is in prison. The friends get him out of the jail and takes him to meet Devi.
Sanjay Krishna, Vinod, Nivas, Udhay, Munees, Shakir, Ashwin Raja, Vishnu Priya, Shivani and Vaidehi play the lead roles. The costumes they wear and the Ilayaraja's reference takes us to 1980s.
Yesteryear heroine Kasthuri plays a cameo which is the highlight of the movie. Rajkapoor is also in the cast.
Balabharathy has come up with some catchy numbers Naanga starts well. But suddenly loses its momentum. There are twists and turns but sadly doesn't gel well.
