Savarakathi Movie Review

February 9, 2018

A Mysskin film is generally dark and speaks of intense story and an emotional drama. However strikingly different from all his previous films is Savarakathi meaning a barber's knife.

It is inspiring and entertaining. The story has different layers of characters and is humorous all through.

Savarakathi Movie English Review

A collage of funny events on a day, Savarakathi speaks volumes of Mysskin as writer. His shrewd characterisations are the hall mark of the movie.

Director G R Adhitya has made sure that everything is light and breezy in the movie. A barber and a criminal pitted against each other. The event that unfolds in a day in their lives form the crux.

Thangameengal Ram plays the lead. Poorna is his pregnant wife. Manga (Mysskin) is a thug out on parole. In eight hours he has to go back to prison. Pitchaimurthy (Ram), a barber leads a simple life. His wife Subathra (Poorna) is mother of two and she is in the family way.

Savarakathi Movie Tamil Review

Manga and Pitchai accidentally cross paths. It doesn’t end well for both of them. After being made to believe that Pichai punched Manga in road rage, the latter sets out to kill the former. The onus is on Pitchai and Subathra to run for cover.

Ram is the highlight of the movie,. His performance evokes laughter and pity on him. He is right there delivering a neat performance. Mysskin does what is entrusted to him well.

Poorna as a deaf girl who is pregnant gets the best from her out. Even the small characters add pep to proceedings. They have come out with a convincing show.

Arrol Corelli’ music is major boost. The BGM elevates the mood. Karthik Venkatram's camera is bright and beautiful.

Savarakathi has its own moments. It is not preaching. It engages and entertains audience.

Verdict : Savarakathi - Sharo & sweet
