Junga Movie Review

July 27, 2018

Who said don movies in Tamil cinema has to be serious and action-packed? Director Gokul and actor Vijay Sethupathi, who combined in the past for Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara come again for Junga.

As expected. it is a hilarious entertainer and oozes with fun laughter and some action. But thanks to Gokul's excellent writing and wonderful performance by Vijay Sethupathi, the movie stands tall.

Junga Review

There are enough elements to make you laugh loud and entertained. The comic elements in the movie make it big. With Yogi Babu to give company for Vijay Sethupathi, Junga is a fun-filled fare, set in a don back-up.

The movie revolves around Junga. He is timid and shy. At one point, he takes to violence to save his girl friend (Madonna Sebastian). His anxious mother who wants to grow him up narrates him the story of hisbncestors.

Junga comes to know that his grandfather and father were gangsters and were killed and their rich treasure is kept at Cinema Paradise. He turns a miserly don. He along with his accomplice Yogi Babu sets out to kidnap Yazhini (Sayeesha), daughter of Suresh Menon, who is behind the death of his fathers.

He sets out to Paris in a funny way. What happens to them form the crux.

Junga English Review

Vijay Sethupathi is the stalk and cheese of the movie. He carries the whole movie in his shoulders. The highlight is the funny one-liners that help sustain the momentum. As Junga, the don his antics win laurels. At places, the spoof on earlier movies and heroisms add more value to the film. Sayeesha is cute and bubbly.

She adds more grace and charm with her performance. Madonan Sebastian in a cameo does well, while saranya as comical mom impresses. Radharavi and Suresh Menon do have part to play. However the highlight is Yogi Babu's comical one-liners. As sidekick to Vijay sethupathi, he dazzles. His dialogue delivery is good.

Music by Siddharth Vipin is passable. Three cheers to Gokul for he manages to render a comical fare with enough elements to engage audience with an entertaining story. A passable fare.

Verdict : Junga - Don & his antics

Rating: 3.5/5
