Arvind Swami in his petition at the court has sought a direction to the producer to pay him Rs 1,79,80,438 with interest at the rate of 18 per cent per annum from the date of the filing of the suit till the date of realization. He also filed an injunction application to restrain the release of the movie, starring actress Trisha, until the disposal of the suit.

On Tuesday, the case came up for hearing before Justice M Sundar and the plaintiff's counsel said he was not pressing for an ex parte interim injunction against the release of the movie and that he would be satisfied if court notice, as well as a private notice, was issued to the producer returnable within a short time. However, when the judge wanted to know when the movie was scheduled to be released, the counsel said the date was yet to be announced. The judge asked, 'If you are not pressing for an injunction, then why did you file an application.'

Further, he said the producer could end up releasing it any time. He warned the counsel that recording his submission on not pressing for an injunction could turn disadvantageous for the plaintiff in the subsequent proceedings of the civil suit because the actor may not be able to recover the remuneration, which he claims to be unpaid if the movie was allowed to be released.
